PM's 'dangerous threats' to Islam in India Lure of ration cards led to Muslims 'reconversion'?

PM najib have a credibility in his administration,Give support, confidence and enough time period to the prime minister that more changes will be implemented for the benefit of the people and country.

has to say what he gotta say to stay in power.....he knows who is propping him up now that the Mahathir is not on his side Never mind..
Surely the entire world will realize his true colours that he is in fact not a moderate but one who survives on slogans and rhetoric and not knowing what they mean..

One wonders how on earth Malaysia managed to get a seat on the United Nation Security Council where one can make lots of U-turns after? It is high time that the international community and the UN realize Najib's ruses about "moderate" Islam in Malaysia. It simply does not exist.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s labelling of humanism, secularism and liberalism as a dangerous threat to Islam has come under fire.

Can the public simply rely on the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) rating ? this is just another provocation to insult our country indirectly

It is clearly spelled out in our constitution that Malaysia is a secular country. "There is a sinister design to alter secular fabric and secular character of the Constitution." We must always know that Malaysia is a secular state and its strength lies in unity in diversity. All Malaysian must rise up to protect the constitution. The original Malay ideology of  socialism Islam has even less resonance today than it had in its heyday. But socialism was not what made these parties worthy contenders for power in several states since the nineties. Empowerment of backward Malays was their calling card.
As the debate continues to swirl around secularism, albeit with ebbing intensity, but still provoking a loose nerve or two, an intriguing question demands an answer. Is India secular because Gandhi was secular, or was Mahathir secular because Malaysia is secular? What precisely do we mean by secularism? The western definition has two origins: the French Revolution, which separated church from state; and communism, which erased religion from political and social life. Between Voltaire and Karl Marx, religion was marginalized into the grey space of “unreason” from Europe to China, with ramifications that extended far beyond the extent of state power.

Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today refused to answer questions on the issue of religious freedom and the revocation of the passports of two controversial individuals.
if born a Muslim, be a good Muslim: for if you were true to your faith you would be a good Malay. From individual moral strength would emerge a powerful Malaysia; a nation would be built through the home. The challenge before Hinduism, a Vedantic way of life, was to rescue its inherent rationality from layers of superstition and “mumbo-jumbo”. Those who believed in regressive practices like child marriage or untouchability were doling out ditch-water instead of amrit.
With Pas in retreat and caught up in internal wrangles over leadership, the savvy PAS socialists who today lead splinter groups that will broke away from the original PASl see a vacuum in the Opposition space and hope to occupy it, combining their scattered strength to raise their collective and individual fortunes. We wish them good luck but see dim prospects for the project.India, therefore, is a country with “audible secularism”. You can be a Muslim in Washington and London, and go to a mosque of your choice, but you will not be able to hear the call to prayer. In Malaysia, dawn is welcomed with the wafting lilt of the azaan, followed by the music of temple bells, the harmony of the Granth Sahib being recited in a gurdwara, and the peal from the church. UMNO secularism is a very different story. It neither ignores nor excludes religion. It insists on equality of all faiths, irrespective of its following. The religion of those in power at any point of that rolling dice called time does not matter, for UMNO secularism is far more than the law. It is a fundamental social right.readmoreTengku Adnan An unreal of yesterday once more PM Najib following Mahathir Doctrine’?

An FIR has been filed against unknown persons over the conversion of around 200 Muslims in Madhunagar slum-cluster in Agra. Several Muslim organisations are also up in arms, saying the poor Muslims were threatened and lured by saffron organisations.watch FIR filed over Agra 'reconversion'

Woman alleges abduction, forcible marriage to Bajrang Dal activist

The complainant in her twenties, who married Rajesh Shetty on October 16 at the Arya Samaj, complained to Konaje police that she was drugged and coerced into the marriage.
In the complaint, she stated that Shetty, who she knew on Facebook through her elder sister, called her and told her he wanted money. After she gave him Rs 6,000 at his shop, Laxmi Fancy on Market Road here, she alleged that Shetty had given her juice spiked with a sedative. Shetty made her get into a van driven by Praveen Kuthar and they allegedly took her to a finance firm run by Dinesh, where about 10 persons threatened her to get married to Shetty and get converted. When she refused, they threatened to harm her parents.

The complainant said the next day she was taken to Arya Samaj where Shenava threatened to kill her parents if she went to the police. In the meanwhile, Konaje police reached Arya Samaj based on a compliant by her father that she'd been kidnapped. She also said Shenava made her sign a few papers and on October 17, they took her to the deputy commissioner's office and the accused took her thumb impression on more papers.

She also alleged that four persons tried to outrage her modesty at a house in Attavar. On October 19, she said she escaped from Global Residency Hotel when Shetty was in the bathroom.

Konaje police registered cases under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty); 147 (punishment for rioting); 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly,); 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage, etc.); 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement.); 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt.) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation.).

Mangalore police commissioner R Hithendra said: "We have registered the case and are investigating it."

Shenava rebutted the charges: "These are baseless allegations. Four policemen were witness to the marriage and they should be first accused in this case. I came after police left. The next day, the couple went to the police station as the girl's father filed a complaint. This was a three-year love affair culminating in marriage. At the Arya Samaj, I told the girl's mother that the boy's financial position was not good and they could take the girl back. It's a political conspiracy to shut me down since our protest had resulted in suspension of a Kavoor police station official recently. This had embarrassed both police and the government."

A day after a group of around 200 Muslims in Madhunagar slum-cluster here claimed they had "reconverted" to Hinduism, many of them on Tuesday said they were still Muslims, with some admitting that they had joined the RSS and Bajrang Dal-organized 'ghar vapsi' ceremony after being promised ration cards and houses. The saffron outfits, though, rubbished this claim, saying there was no inducement for "reconversion".

Farhan, a slum dweller, said, "If 40 people in saffron scarves come and stand on your head, you will do just as they want." Farhan was among those who had taken part in the puja, washed the feet of Hindu gods and also briefly worn vermillion on his forehead. On Tuesday, though, he said it was all for getting those men in "saffron scarves" off his back.

The re-conversion event was painted as "ghar vapsi" or re-conversion of Muslims who had Hindu ancestry. It was organized by the Dharma Jagran Samanvay Vibhag, an offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and Bajrang Dal. A 'shuddhikaran hawan' was also performed in the slum.

Bajrang Dal functionary Ajju Chauhan said the re-conversion had indeed taken place, and if the people were denying it, it was out of fear. "All these people have Hindu ancestors. They just did 'ghar vapsi'," he said, adding, "They were not lured by ration cards or houses. They wanted to lead clean lives."

District magistrate Pankaj Kumar and SSP Shalabh Mathur said no one had approached them in connection with the re-conversion event.Ismail, who led the 200-odd Muslims in the event, said he offered namaz on Tuesday after no one from the saffron outfits turned up in their neighbourhood. "We're poor people and anyone can do anything with us. We can't afford to lose our lives over religion and conversion," Ismail said, adding that the promise of ration cards and houses had drawn many people.

"They first threatened to get us to vacate our homes. The land is owned by a Hindu. Later, they said that if we converted, we would get houses and better schooling for children," Ismail said. The women who had posed before cameramen on Monday sappeared withdrawn the day after and would not even allow the kids out to play.
Members of at least 57 Muslim families were converted to Hinduism at a ceremony called 'Purkhon ki ghar vapsi', a mass conversion jointly organized by Dharma Jagran Samanvay Vibhag, an offshoot of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Bajrang Dal in Agra on Monday.

RSS regional head Rajeshwar Singh said more than 200 Muslims were "brought back to Hinduism" in the mass event held in Madhunagar area of the city.

According to organizers, the converts will soon be given new names.

Talking to TOI, Singh claimed that around 5,000 more Muslims and Christians will be "brought back into Hindu fold" in Aligarh on this Christmas. "The grand event will be held at Maheshwari College in Aligarh," he said, daring anyone to stop it.

With saffron flags hoisted on rooftops of makeshift houses in this slum cluster, and matras being recited by priests, members of as many as 57 Muslim families washed feet of Hindu idols to mark their return to the religion. Long vermillion marks were put on their foreheads and they were given Prasad to eat.

Later, RSS and Bajrang Dal activists gave them a 'mantra' to chant the whole day and prepared a list of all the 'converts', to get their voter IDs and Aadhaar cards made, with their new names.

Sharifa, 40, was seen debating the right way of performing an aarti with her daughter-in-law, Afsha, in a small temple that has been erected by RSS men in the slum in Madhunagar. An idol of goddess Kali has also been placed in the temple, as majority of people living in the area hail from West Bengal.

Sufia Begum,76, who is the oldest woman among the converts, told TOI: "I read Quran and offered namaz five times a day. Now at this age, I will read Ganesh aarti. I don't find any major difference in the teachings of the two religions."

"The RSS people assured us that they will provide us better place to live, better food and schooling for my grandsons. I don't mind change of religion, as religion doesn't give us food to eat."

Rajeshwar Singh told TOI that RSS spends Rs 50 lakh every month on conversion of an average 1,000 families. "It spends Rs 8-10 lakh per month on fuel costs alone in west UP," he added.

"We have re-converted 2.73 lakh Muslims and Christians in Braj region that includes Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Mathura, Firozabad, Etah, Meerut, Mainpuri and Uttarakhand since 2003. The upcoming mass re-conversion event in which some 5,000 Muslims and Christians will be brought back into Hindu fold will be headed by Yogi Adityanath on December 25 in Aligarh," Singh said.

Singh also claimed that RSS has taken possession of as many as 60 churches across the state, where no Christians worship now, "as they have all been re-converted to Hinduism".

"Ek din in girijagharo ki deewarein bhi gir jayengi aur hamara desh sirf hinduon ka hoga (one day these churches will crumble and our country will belong to the Hindus alone)," he added.

Ajju Chauhan, the Bajrang Dal leader who zeroed in on the slum in Madhunagar and organized the mass re-conversion event, was overwhelmed after the puja. More than three dozen RSS and Bajrang Dal members were guarding the pandal to avoid any untoward incident.

Talking to TOI, Aslam Qureishi, prominent Sunni leader of the city, said, "This is just a tactic of the RSS to misguide Muslims."
