Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today dismissed Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir’s call for Hulu Selangor voters to vote Barisan Nasional (BN) to express support for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, saying the deputy minister was getting “personal”.
He also said the April 25 by-election was for voters to evaluate Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s government.
“I feel that Datuk Mukhriz is getting personal with his comments. I do not want to comment on his remarks,” Anwar told The Malaysian Insider by telephone today.
Mukhriz, the deputy minister for international trade and industry, made the call in response to PKR candidate, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim’s comments to The Malaysian Insider that a vote for the MIC candidate would be “like giving Mahathir another chance”.readmoreJerlun MP Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir GET READY TO SELL YOUR ASSHOLE YOUR DAD MUST HAVE THOUGHT BESIDE HOW TO GET RICH BY SWINDLING THE REAL POOR MALAYS

“So if they feel grateful to Tun, then I agree with Zaid that they show their gratitude by voting Barisan Nasional’s candidate. So let me show Zaid Ibrahim that his statement will hit him back on his face,” he had said earlier today.
Anwar said the voters would be the final arbiters, not Mukhriz.

In an earlier press conference in Parliament, Anwar reiterated the reasons the coalition chose Zaid as its candidate.
“We know that he (Zaid) is a principled man. He resigned from his posts (in the past) to uphold justice. For me that is strength in character,” Anwar told reporters.
His views were shared by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, who affirmed the party’s support for PKR’s chosen candidate.
“PAS gives its undivided support to Zaid. It is not easy for a minister to resign from his post. This shows his loyalty to the cause,” said Hadi.
