When more Chinese voted for PAS at the Permatang Pasir by-election last Tuesday over those who supported it in Election 2008, the blame was naturally pointed at Umno.

Not much was said about the MCA and Gerakan and their effectiveness to get the Chinese vote against the onslaught of racialist rhetoric by Umno-controlled media and politicians.
MIC and MCA is a burden to UMNO now, but at the sametime, MIC and MCA became irrelevant now all thanks to UMNO’s racist and arrogant. If UMNO keep on doing this, one day it might cause other component parties in Sabah and Sarawak just irrelevant like MIC & MCA now. najid’s 1malaysia is quite one good concept that wellcome by non-malay, but unfortunitely, the whole UMNO seems like go more racist nowadays, and especially thanks to Utusan.
Perhaps that’s why UMNO so scare, and try every hard to show a friendship hand to PAS, since they can’t rely on MCA and MIC now. UMNO need PAS more than PAS need UMNO. but, UMNO cared about power and money, while PAS seems don’t really mind on material things, and since they are not in power anyway, they have nothing to scare to lose.If MCA were to fall, so would BN and UMNO. MIC is no longer an issue. Remember the fall of the Great Roman Empire. Rome fell because of its internal squabblings, not from outside attacks. So we might just start to witness the fall of BN.
What MCA and MIC has become today is the result from Ling Liong Sik’s and Samy Vellu’s time. Including Tun Mahathir during that period, they want power all to themselves and surround themselves only with yes men. Also not surprising that along the corridors of power in Putrajaya, Najib and gang believe that the MCA and MIC are liabilities, mere passengers
The MCA does not represent the Chinese anymore. It is perceived to represent itself more than the community it should represent. It has hardly a voice in running the country even it is “the second biggest and most influential party after Umno” and it is precisely for being “dumb and mute” that the Chinese does not depend on MCA to look after their interests anymore. Basically MCA has lost touch with the ordinary grassroot Chinese community’s aspirations over the years. Not much was said about the MCA and Gerakan and their effectiveness to get the Chinese vote against the onslaught of racialist rhetoric by Umno-controlled media and politicians.
