dr rai doctoral dissertation in 1995 titled “freedom under executive power in malaysia: a study of executive supremacy”

Dear Minister of mis Information:

In a democratic society everyone has right of access to information. To warn the bloggers and direct them on what to write tantamounts to government censorship.14

questionable legitimacy the battle for ketuanan melayu usurping of the authority and status of the monarch is an affront on our constitution and serves to further undermine constitutional rule in this country under barisan nasional rule. it also gives rise to questions about the legitimacy?

Free press, independent judiciary, and freedom of expression within the bounds of laws will result in the development of an informed society. When rakyat are educated and knowledgeable, they will not be easily swayed by propaganda and untruths.

For Malaysia to achieve its status as a developed nation, the government should encourage information exchange, freedom of expressions, new concepts and ideas, and above all public debates on matters of national concerns.syed ibrahim said ketuanan melayu power play i.s.a their last weapon can they throw it away ?state gerakan chairman datuk dr teng hock nan pipeddream?

Does that means he's telling the WIN WIN situation over the Pulau Batu Putih (Pedra Branca) is TRUE??. Is it really a WIN WIN situation for us
Our PM says that Malaysia belongs to every Malaysian and not just to the cabinet members and UMNO/BN. In your capacity as a public servant handling an important portfolio, it is the wish of the rakyat that you lead the nation well and allow rapid development of a literate and informed society and not using the ministry and its resources to engage in government propaganda and mislead the rakyat in anyway that is detrimental to the development of our society.

We Say,

Former Selangor Menter Besar Khir Toyoimplicated Selangor Senior Exco member Teresa Kok on the "azan" issue as part of his concerted effort to incite racial and religious hatred by the Malays/Muslims against the Chinese community in Selangor.

The Editor-in-Chief of Utusan Malaysia did not check the facts prior to publication of the false allegation made by Khir Toyo, instead Utusan Malaysia raised the tone of the allegations to a more dangerous level.

Both Khir Toyo and Editor-in-Chief of Utusan Malaysia had malicious design in falsely accusing Teresa Kok. It is apparent that both of them aimed to achieve a wider objective of fanning racial and religious discontent and hatred by Malay/Muslims against the Chinese community, which in our view, seriously endangers our national security.

Khir Toyo and the Editor-in-Chief of Utusan Malaysia must be arrested and brought to justice for falsely accusing Teresa Kok on the "azan" issue.

If Syed Hamid Albar wants to use the ISA, he should instead go out and arrest the 189 residents who had politely written a letter to UMNO State Assemblyman Mohamad Satim Diman to talk to the mosque officials to help resolve their concerns about lowering the loudspeakers at the mosque during the long hours of the religious sermons.

The government has an obligation to allow rakyat freedom to gain access to critical information for decision making. With ISA, OSA, sedition acts and secrecy of government organs, you cannot really fault the rakyat to be cynical and skeptical about the intent of the government. This skepticism about government intent is really the root cause and breeding ground of half truths and untruths.

Why not be more open and transparent to the rakyat on how decisions in government is made. If UMNO/BN intent is truly to serve the people, there is nothing to fear about. In the end truth prevails. Are you confident of that?

Rais yatim, show the citizens who you really are. I dare you to take action againct Utusan for constantly publishing racist and seditious reports to incite fear and racial tension among the citizens in this country. If you fail to do it then we know you are just a minister for UMNO.. Period..14

Rais: Wrong to say ISA not up to standard of humanity

KUALA LUMPUR (April 13, 2009) : The misconception that the Internal Security Act (ISA) is not up to the standard of humanity is wrong, said newly-appointed Information, Communication, Art and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim today.

He said there was a process of habeas corpus where the operation of law operated on the person detained under the ISA, to apply to court and prove himself free from all blame against him.

“But that part has not been described by anybody. The mechanism that we have under the ISA, specifically Section 8 and 73, can be challenged through the process of
habeas corpus, which system is also prevailent here, and therefore, to say that the ISA is not up to the standard of humanity is wrong,” he said during an interview on talkshow ‘Hardtalk‘ aired by BBC.

On why the law allowed indefinite detention without charge or trial, Rais replied that it was not indefinite as the Malaysian Government used a 60-day detention period, (just) like the Terrorism Act in Britian where suspects were held in detention for up to 21 days.

The former foreign minister was also asked on the detention of blogger-cum-journalist Raja Petra Kamaruddin.

He explained that the blogger was detained not because he was a terrorist but on the grounds that he was prejudicial to the security of the law in the country.

Asked whether the ISA would be reformed or repealed, Rais said he believed that at one point, the Act would gradually develop into something which would be more compatible with the allowances demanded by the international community.

“The ISA was a graduation from the 1948 law given by the British…at that time, Malaya was subject to the guerilla war, the environment at that time, so it has developed into a system where it now became questionable to many people.

“We will take that challenge and we will gradually work it out to a point where the ISA must be amended at one point in the future,” he said.

On Umno, Rais said that although there were certains defects in the party, the mechanism of improvement was there.

“Not all things are excellent inside, but (Tun) Dr Mahathir Mohamad, our former prime minister is coming back to the party to help, not to be engaged in executive function,” he said.

He also dismissed talk that the sodomy charge against PKR advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was one of Umno’s way to deal with its opponents.

On the New Economic Policy which was said to be more favourable to the Malays, Rais said Malaysia’s current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would take the best possible way to handle the matter.
