A colossal victory abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government

PUTRAJAYA, Aug 3 — Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin gave a stern warning today to MCA over its appeal for the government to rescind the ban on non-Muslims use of the word “Allah”, after Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein admitted that the decision was regrettable.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that MCA must accept the decision of the government and should not trigger another debate on the word “Allah.”

Muhyiddin also questioned MCA’s intention in sharing the same platform with DAP.

From jahiliyya to Muhammed to fatwa chaos to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stern warning today to MCA

Analyze this Newt and Palin.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

It is a colossal victory for America. It is a great victory for the American people and the US constitution. Of course Imam Fasel Rauf and Daisy Khan are elated. The Rabbis and Priests of Lower Manhattan who supported the project deserve this moment and the American people honor them.

The opponents of the Cordoba Center have no legal or moral leg to stand on. They tried to stir up hysteria based on race-baiting and fear. They tried to steam-roll the First Amendment, and the tried to use bigotry and political saber-rattling. Fox News has been in the forefront of the Crusade that fuels Islamphobia in this great nation of ours. Some of the worst bigots in the nation danced around the dead bodies of 3000 Americans, of which about 300 were Muslim-Americans.

The same players did not lift a finger to oppose Strip Clubs, Escort Services, and Massage parlors which truly desecrate the memory of the fallen. However an interfaith center that has Jews, Christians and Muslims as Board Members was supposedly anathema to the opponents.

They were clever–they mislabeled it “Ground Zero Mosque”, instead of “Lower Manhattan Community Center”. The opponents then tried to use a ruse to stop the center by having it declared as an historical site. How many Burlington Coat Factory building are historical sites? Where were the historical site folks when a retailer had purchased the building?

Neither the Republican Party, nor the Tea Party can ignore the Consitution or make laws prohibiting the free exercise thereof

America is a nation of laws. The Wise men have spoken–the Burlington Coat factory is not a historical site. The Cordoba Center already owns the building. They can do whatever they want with the building. The following Wall Street Journal report gives us the details of the meeting.

The New York City Landmarks Commission unanimously voted Tuesday to deny landmark designation to the site of the proposed mosque near Ground Zero, paving the way for the controversial community center and worship space to rise two blocks from the site of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The former Burlington Coat Factory building that will make way for the Cordoba House which some are calling the “Ground Zero Mosque” is seen in lower Manhattan on July 29 in New York.

The commission’s chairman, Robert B. Tierney, said the building at 45-47 Park Place “does not rise to the level of an individual landmark.” The 11-member panel is appointed by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has vehemently defended the mosque as an example of religious freedom.

The proposed community center has become the center of an intense national controversy, prompting opponents to call on the commission to grant landmark status in hopes of blocking the plan.

NEW YORK: A church in Florida, US, is reportedly planning to host an "International Burn a Quran Day" on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terror attack, a move that has been condemned by many Christians and Muslims.

The Dove World Outreach Centre in Gainesville, Florida, would host the event to remember 9/11 victims and take a stand against Islam, which it calls a "deceptive religion" and "of the devil".

The church is promoting the event on its website and Facebook page and has invited Christians to burn the Muslim holy book at its premises from 6 pm to 9 pm.

"We believe that Islam is of the devil, that it's causing billions of people to go to hell, it is a deceptive religion, it is a violent religion and that is proven many, many times," church pastor Terry Jones was quoted as saying by the CNN.

The Facebook page has more than 1,600 fans. "Eternal fire is the only destination the Quran can lead people to, so we want to put the Quran in its place - the fire!" the page says.

The church also launched a YouTube video to disseminate the message.

"I mean ask yourself, have you ever really seen a really happy Muslim? As they're on the way to Mecca? As they gather together in the mosque on the floor? Does it look like a real religion of joy?" Jones says in the YouTube video. "No, to me it looks like a religion of the devil."

Jones also said he has written a book titled "Islam is of the Devil", and that the church sells coffee mugs and shirts featuring the phrase.

Muslim and Christian groups have, meanwhile, launched a protest against the event.

The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) issued a statement urging the church to cancel the event, warning it could cause worldwide tension between the two religions.

"The NAE calls on its members to cultivate relationships of trust and respect with our neighbours of other faiths. God created human beings in his image, and therefore all should be treated with dignity and respect," it said.

Another Facebook group with more than 3,100 fans said it stands "against the disrespect and intolerance that these people have for the Muslim people".

An Islamic advocacy group - Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) - has said it would give out 100,000 copies of the Quran to local, state and national leaders, in a bid to educate the public during the month-long fast of Ramadan.

"American Muslims and other people of conscience should support positive educational efforts to prevent the spread of Islamophobia," CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper said.

The commission’s vote – taking place under heavy police presence at a theater at Pace University in Lower Manhattan – is viewed as the principal municipal hurdle for the mosque, which is now free to move forward. Commissioner after commissioner said the building, constructed in 1857-58, is not unique and lacks the characteristics necessary for a landmark. Manhattan has more than 11,000 landmarked properties.

One opponent sat quietly in the audience holding a sign that read “Don’t glorify murders of 3,000 – no 9/11 victory mosque.”

As the commissioners left the room, an opponent in the audience asked if any of them had lost a loved one during the terrorist attacks. The opponent urged the commissioners to look into the cameras and “apologize for this disgrace.”

“I hope Mayor Bloomberg is satisfied,” he said.

But opponents of what is formally known as the Cordoba House said they’re not giving up the fight. They saw Landmark protection as a Hail Mary play that would stop the project — and force the planners of the 13-story community center and Muslim prayer space to find another location.Last month, at a contentious public hearing, they accused the Landmarks commissioners of caving to political pressure from Mayor Bloomberg and others to support the center rather than considering the building for its historical merits. NY Daily News

Bloomberg called a Press Conference to discuss the issue. The Myaor has supported the project.

The project’s sponsor, the Cordoba Initiative, describes itself as a pluralistic organization seeking better relations between the Islamic community and other faiths.
