the fallacy of Defenders of ketuanan Melayu why dont you defend this brave young men?
(Bernama) - The Federation of Peninsular Malaysia Students Associations (GPMS) today lodged a police report against Ipoh Barat parliamentarian M Kulasegaran over his statement allegedly questioning the special privileges and supremacy of the Malays. The report was made by GMPS president Jais Abdul Karim, who was accompanied by about 10 GPMS members, at the Sentul district police headquarters here at 10.30am. In the report, Jais asked the police to take action against Kulasegaran over his statement which he alleged had hurt and angered the Malays. Speaking to reporters after lodging the report, Jais said Kulasegaran's questioning of Malay supremacy could spark racial disunity and riots. He said GPMS would issue a memorandum condemning the statement and seek an open apology from Kulasegaran, who is a DAP vice-president. On Dec 3, Kulasegaran had raised the issue of Malay supremacy in the Dewan Rakyat, setting off a heated argument among the MPs. Kulasegaran, when posting a supplementary question to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, had said that issues like Malay supremacy had remained a stumbling block to unity in the country because it was regarded as a discrimination of other races. A racist Malay Students ASSociation. Kulasegaran has all the right to question the Ketuanan issue. So to the Malay Students ASSociation, JUST SHUT up your asshole buddy!
Jais is saying that Malays are easily hurt and angered by a mere statement? Then he said that this can bring about disunity and riots. May I ask him , Are Malays easily hurt and angered easily? Who is going to cause disunity and cause a riot? To all my Malay friends , please speak up and clarify this controversy. Speak up against this dangerous trend that is going on seem without end. . If its true then what the Malays need is a special counselling and not a special privilege. Malays, and we are not hurt or angered by what Kulasegaran said. How dare you claim yourself to represnt the Malays? Since when did I appoint you to represent me or majority of the Malays. GMPS president Jais Abdul Karim, why don't you also make a police report against the 12 dirty dozen of shah alam COWard head protesters who step and pee on the opposition banner which will also ignite racial disunity and riots???............or is it because you're NOT PAID to do so umno's last resort is to use the students ??? remember how the UiTM students demo after 308 sheer waste of tax payers money to breed this type of students and transformed them to umno skunks Obviously, all those Umnoputras who had been brainwashed and blindly influenced by the racist BTN, thinking that all Malays still need crutches and the special privileges thereby transforming them into rent-seekers and under-counter receivers. As I see it, both parties have a right to speak up on what matters to them. Part of democracy and freedom of speech. However, to claim Mlalay supremecy is just and fair to all people of Cant they see that this so-called special privileges and supremacy are part and parcel of the elitists and those who walk the corridors of power who are exploiting their own race to keep themselves in power? Ask themselves whether their pockets have been fattened in defending this cause to help these exploiters keep their riches ![]() Virtually overnight, ketuanan Melayu has become a dirty word in Malaysian politics. It was not so long ago that — as mad as the idea of racial supremacy may be — a politician could get away with denouncing the rights of other Malaysians. And I think it is clear that March 8 is responsible. Let’s review what things were like before March 8. We had the annual spectacle of politicians lining up at the Umno general assembly, ready to call for the blood of other races and proclaim the supremacy of their own. Members of Parliament casually told fellow MPs “kalau you tak suka, you boleh keluar dari Malaysia!” A funny thing happened on the way to Barisan Nasional’s next election victory: the rakyat rejected their oft-stated policies of discrimination and division. For all this talk about Pakatan Rakyat being a marriage of convenience, it is worth recalling still that they have more in common with one another than Barisan did at its inception. Each and every Pakatan component party denounced ketuanan Melayu and denounced racism in the run-up to the 2008 election — that is really at the heart of what Pakatan is about. Defenders of ketuanan Melayu love to cite the Malay rulers as the embodiment of this belief in racial supremacy. But curiously, last year the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, told the press that “Malaysia belongs to all races, not just the Malays.” Our previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Syed Jamalullail told a seminar organised by the infamous Biro Tata Negara (BTN) earlier this year: “In Malaysia, every race is tuan.” It appears that the only option left open for ketuanan Melayu cheerleaders like Utusan Malaysia is to brand these rulers as traitors to their own race. After he rejoined politics, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced to the world that Parti Keadilan Rakyat stands for ketuanan rakyat, not ketuanan Melayu. His is the first Malay-dominated party to have adopted such an open and liberal stand — even Datuk Onn Ja’afar was quick to spurn non-racial politics once he realised that he had no chance against Umno and the Alliance. And PKR is not alone; since even before the general election, PAS was denouncing ketuanan Melayu as unjust and unIslamic. The zeitgeist stands opposed to ketuanan Melayu, and even a sluggard of a party as Umno can read these tea leaves. Khairy Jamaluddin has noticeably changed his tone towards communal issues since March 8, and directly attributes this change in outlook to the election; whether he is sincere or not, I have no reason to doubt him. Umno Youth, the most radical wing of the party by far, narrowly elected Khairy as its leader over two candidates who ran on some of the most racist platforms imaginable. This past week, we have seen what was previously unimaginable: a Minister in the Cabinet calling former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad a “bloody racist,” and denouncing ketuanan Melayu as ridiculous. It’s difficult enough to imagine Datuk Seri Samy Vellu, Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat or Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek summoning the guts to do this. That Nazri, one of the more reactionary members of the Cabinet, would so completely denounce ketuanan Melayu and its proponents, from Prime Minister Mahathir to Umno organ Utusan, is truly remarkable. It is abundantly clear that none of this would be taking place if not for March 8. Indeed, what the rakyat want is abundantly clear. That is what led to March 8, that is what led to Pakatan, that is what led to the rulers criticising ketuanan Melayu, and that is what led to this whole uproar about BTN right now. Opinion polls recently suggested that if an election were held today, Barisan would recapture its two-thirds majority in Parliament. Is this because Barisan has been stealing Pakatan’s thunder in battling racism? Maybe — although Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s silence on the BTN issue, and Khairy’s narrow win over two politicians who split the overtly racist vote, speak thunderous volumes. But Barisan has Pakatan to thank for this—if Pakatan and the rulers had not shown them the way, Umno leaders like Nazri would never have found their voice to speak out against ketuanan Melayu and the racism of past regimes like Mahathir’s. Virtually overnight, ketuanan Melayu has become a dirty word in Malaysian politics. It was not so long ago that — as mad as the idea of racial supremacy may be — a politician could get away with denouncing the rights of other Malaysians. KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 7, 2009): Three Univesiti Malaya (UM) students were charged in the sessions court here today with committing mischief by using fire, criminal tresspassing, and splashing petrol on the carpet of the main hall at the Academy of Islamic Studies of the university on June 24. Mohamad Aizat Roslan, 21, Mohd Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin, 22, and Muhamad Saufi Jelani, 21, all students at the academy, claimed trial to the charges. Sessions judge S.M. Komathy granted bail of RM3,500 in one surety. All three are required to report at a police station once in a month. The case will be mentioned on Jan 12. On the first charge, Aizat, Shazni Munir and Saufi are alleged to have committed mischief by fire with the knowledge that it could cause damage to the main hall. They are alleged to have committed the offence at the main door of the main hall at about 4am on June 24. On the second charge, they are alleged to have committed criminal tresspassing, and on the third charge, they are accused of committing mischief by splashing petrol on the carpet and scribbling on the wall of the main hall. They are alleged to have committed the offences at the same time, place and day. DPP Mohd Mukhzany Fariz suggested a bail of RM10,000 in one surety for each charge. Lawyer Mohamad Arfizi Mohd Ramli, who represented Shazni Munir, pleaded for lower bail to be set for all the three accused. He said they are still studying and being supported by their parents, and they have siblings who are also studying and supported by their families. He suggested bail be set at RM3,500 as the students had never been involved in any criminal offences before this and had cooperated with the police. On June 30, two other UM students were slapped with similar charges and their case was fixed for a hearing today. However, when the case was brought up in court, Mohd Mukhzany asked for it to be mentioned on Jan 12, as the three additional students had just been charged. He said the prosecution will be applying for a joint trial. Mohamad Izzuddin Hilmi, 21, and Muhammad Syahrul Deen Ahmad Rozli, 20, had claimed trial to the three charges. Izzuddin also faced another charge of not exhibiting clearly the registration number of a motocycle he was using on the day. Lawyer Zulhasmi Shariff represented Aizat and Saufi. |
